Following closely behind.
Sheep drovers on horseback drove the sheep forward,
but shepherd walks ahead of the sheep instead.
the shepherd leads and makes the way for his faithful sheep that follows closely behind
if anything dangerous comes, the shepherd is always the first one who faces it.
the sheep wouldn't need to worry about a single thing,
but simply follow behind the shepherd in full safety and assurance.
isn't it great that our God is the shepherd and not the sheep drover?
2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
